CONTEXTUAL FIT
The focus of this project is to create an addition to the Smith House that preserves the integrity of the original design. This was be achieved by analyzing and incorporating the existing systems and patterns of the house, while using conceptual analogies to enhance the design and meet the new needs of the owners. The addition has introduced new systems and patterns that complement the existing design.
Narrative
Kash and their family are embarking on a new chapter by moving into the Smiths' home, and they're looking to add a special touch to their living space. Kash has fond memories of growing up in Brooklyn and commuting on the subway and buses, where the sight of NY public transport provided a sense of comfort and nostalgia. With this in mind, they want to incorporate this element into the Smiths’ house. Kash places great importance on the family room, as it will serve as the central gathering space for their loved ones. With this in mind, the architect must create a space that not only accommodates the family's needs but also captures the essence of their nostalgic connection to the sounds of the city. As the designer, it's my job to bring their vision to life and create a space that not only looks beautiful but feels like home.
